Blessing Breakfast for Grandchildren

By: Grateful Heart Living

Share

Do you have grandchildren? Do they spend the night at grandma and grandpa’s house? Do you make a special breakfast for them in the morning?

Take time with your grandkids over a special breakfast (restaurant or at home) to talk about how and why some people have been a blessing to you. Who are the people in your life that have blessed you and in what way have they blessed you. Then ask your grandchildren to identify people who have been a blessing to them. Help them recognize those people and how they were a blessing.

Activity with Grandkids

Distribute postcards or blank greeting cards to each grandchild. Invite or help them to write a brief note to these special people in their lives. Let them include drawings or a poem. Talk to them about how important it is to let people know that you care about them.

Then express how each of your grandchildren are a blessing to you! Distribute your own handwritten cards telling them how important they are to you and what you love about them. You could pick a favorite bible verse or poem or a drawing as well. Give it to them along with a small gift that says something about each of them.

  • What about your grandchild brings you joy?
  • What’s unique about him or her?
  • What skills or character qualities have you noticed?
  • What satisfaction do you feel from being his or her Nana, Papa, Grandma, or Gramps?

Have those kinds of questions in your mind whenever you’re with your grandkids, and blessings will likely start flowing.

Long-Distance Variation

Sometimes when we have miles between us and our grandchildren it can be hard to have these moments. A sleep over and breakfast isn’t always an option. An idea you can do is to send out postcards and blank greeting cards to them and suggest that they follow through with the same activity. Include in the package your notes of how they are a blessing and a small gift. You might even try to have a little FaceTime with them during breakfast one morning to talk about it.

How do you let your grandchildren know how special they are to you?
