9 Simple Strategies to Stress Less as a Mom

By: Grateful Heart Living

Being a mom is a full-time job that often leaves little time for rest and relaxation. Between managing the household, juggling work commitments, and taking care of the kids, it's no wonder that many moms feel overwhelmed and stressed out. While being a mom will always have its challenging moments, there are simple strategies you can use to help reduce stress and improve your overall well-being.

Here are nine simple strategies that can help you stress less as a mom:

1. Make time for self-care: As a mom, it's easy to forget about your own needs, but taking care of yourself is crucial for your mental health. Find time each day to do something you enjoy, whether it's reading a book, going for a walk, listening to a podcast or taking a relaxing bath.

2. Prioritize sleep: Getting enough sleep is essential for both physical and mental health. Make sure you set aside enough time for sleep each night, and try to establish a consistent bedtime routine. A routine is important to keep us accountable for getting things done. Your spouse and kids also need plenty of sleep as well.

3. Practice mindfulness: Mindfulness is a technique that involves being present in the moment and non-judgmentally observing your thoughts and feelings. Practicing mindfulness can help you feel more grounded and reduce stress. Concentrate on all that you have and not what you want. You are blessed where you are.

4. Exercise regularly: Exercise is a great way to reduce stress and improve your mood. Find an exercise routine that works for you, whether it's going to the gym, taking a yoga class, or simply going for a walk around the neighborhood. The kids would love to be in the park or go for a walk in a stroller or wagon. Get outdoors whenever possible.

5. Simplify your schedule: It's easy to get overwhelmed by a busy schedule, so try to simplify your life as much as possible. Prioritize your tasks and eliminate any unnecessary commitments that add stress to your life. Being a homemaker is a blessing, but choose your hard. You can't do all the things all of the time.

6. Delegate tasks: As a mom, it's easy to feel like you have to do everything yourself, but delegating tasks can help to lighten the load. Ask your partner or kids to help out with household chores and other tasks. Including the kids will teach them life skills.

7. Connect with other moms: Talking with other moms who understand what you're going through can be incredibly helpful. Consider joining a moms group or connecting with other moms.

8. Stay organized: Staying organized can help to reduce stress and make you feel more in control. Make a daily to-do list, keep a calendar, and use organizational tools like apps to help you stay on top of your tasks.

9. Practice gratitude: It's easy to focus on the negative aspects of motherhood, but practicing gratitude can help to shift your perspective. Take time each day to reflect on the things you're blessed with. You have some precious blessings and they deserve the best of you.

Bonus Tip

10. Take a social media break: Remember we are all in a different area of life. Looking at others and all that they have, can keep us from being grateful for what we do have. Don't compare yourself to others. We don't need everything...too much stuff will clutter our homes, our minds and our lives. Keep things simple to keep your mind on the right path. Our babies are more important and they need us.
Not every day will be perfect. It is okay to take a break and let others help you. There is no shame in that. Life gets hard and it does take a village. Let the village help out when you get stressed. If you need to see a professional, then do it. Sometimes we really need another perspective on life. Talk with a spouse, another mom or anyone else you feel comfortable talking to.

You wanted a family and family comes first. Take care of you and your spouse and then your children. They are more important than stuff and “all the things.” Kids don’t care about having everything, they care about having you! Give them your time
