2. Expedition Island Park - For a more historical experience, make sure to visit Expedition Island Park in Green River. This site marks the spot where famous explorer John Wesley Powell and his team began their journey down the Green River in 1869. Visitors can explore the park's exhibits, enjoy a picnic, or even take a dip in the calm waters of the Green River.
 
3. Killpecker Sand Dunes - Sweetwater County is home to the second-largest active sand dunes in the world, known as the Killpecker Sand Dunes. Located in the southeastern part of the county, these dunes offer a unique and picturesque desert landscape that is perfect for exploring by foot or vehicle. Visitors can also take in views of the surrounding mountains and hopefully spot some of the area's local wildlife.
 
4. Rock Springs Historical Museum - For a deeper dive into local history, visit the Rock Springs Historical Museum. This museum chronicles the area's development and the contributions of its diverse communities, including miners, railroaders, Native Americans, and settlers. Artifacts, photographs, and interactive exhibits provide insight into the lives of those who shaped Sweetwater County's past.
 
5. Wild Horse Canyon Road - If you're looking for a scenic drive, head down Wild Horse Canyon Road. This winding, six-mile stretch provides stunning views of rock formations, towering cliffs, and the vast Wyoming landscape. Some of the best photo opportunities on the road include the "photographer's point" and "castle rock."
